January 1 to April 15 is always a crazy time of year for Americans–especially when it comes to property taxes. As of right now, deadlines are coming up and they’re coming up quickly.
However, even with the looming send-by dates, there’s no need to panic. When it comes to Austin property taxes, we’ve got the 411 and are more than happy to share our expertise. So, whether you qualify for an exemption or want to protest a current appraisal, here’s how we can help:
Property Tax Protest Services
Unfortunately, it happens—when the county comes around to appraise property value, you can get hit with a tax bill that’s thousands of dollars higher than expected. If you feel like that’s the case, then you should know it’s your right to protest your property taxes.
Here at Habitat Hunters, we have the experience, expertise and history in local Austin real estate to assist you in making sure you’re not overpaying. We can provide our market data and attend the protest hearing with the county to ensure you’re paying the right amount for your property. While we provide this service to anyone, we do offer it at a discount to prior Habitat Hunter buyers and sellers.

And remember—don’t settle with an incorrect appraisal while there’s still time to protest!
Property Tax Exemptions
There’s still time to file for property tax exemptions—the window to file is between January 1 and April 30, 2016 and we urge those who qualify to take advantage ASAP.
Exemptions are based on the county of your property, and apply to homesteads, homeowners over 65, the disabled, disabled veterans and surviving spouses. You can find the full county-by-county breakdown of information on our new Texas Property Tax Exemptions page.
And, as always, feel free to contact us at any time if you need further assistance. This time of year is tough, but you don’t need to go through it alone!
