Why Austin is the Third-Coolest City in America, According to Forbes

December 1, 2015 by Jody Lockshin

Austin is the Third-Coolest City in America

If you’re making the move to Austin, then you are in for a treat. According to Forbes, Austin is the third-coolest city in America! While our highest cool-factor was due to the amazing arts and culture this city has to offer, there are so many other things that make this one hip place to live.

Take a look at just some of the fantastic things that “are” Austin.

The jobs

Our economy is sizzling right now with the tech (hello Google, Apple, and Facebook!), music and hospitality industries all thriving and hiring. Combine this healthy job market with an affordable cost of living and you’ve got yourself one cool city as a result.

The living spaces

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a new, expansive luxury home out in the suburbs or a loft right in Downtown Austin, there’s a living space out there that will suit just about any lifestyle.

Need help looking for the perfect Austin property? These handy tipscan point you in the right direction.

The food

Austin has been featured in Travel + Leisure as one of America’s Best Cities for Foodies. While we’re known for our Tex-Mex and BBQ, there arealso our ever-increasing gourmet restaurants, food trucks, incredible breakfast tacos and so much more to enjoy.

What else is this city known for? Try the margaritas, enchiladas, pies, burgers and fries, fajitas, and ice cream, but not all at once!

The great outdoors

In Austin, you can have the best of both worlds by living in the middle of a thriving city while also having immediate access to the great outdoors. There are places to hike right in Downtown, or, with just a ten-minute drive, you can leave the city behind to check out some amazing views.

The music

We don’t call ourselves the Live Music Capital of the World for no reason. Pick any night of the week and you’ll find live music playing somewhere in the great city of Austin—it’s kind of our thing. Whether you’re in the mood for country or soul, R&B or rock, you’ll find nearby venuesfeaturing local talent that will knock your socks off.

Austin has definitely earned its cool-city cred, and we’ve enjoyed watching this city come into its own over the past few years.

As always, if you’re interested in making the move to Austin, let us know. We can help you find the living space of your dreams.

Testimonials

After searching on Craigslist and no responses from half the Realtors associated with ads for rentals, I was informed about Habitat Hunters from a friend. I was initially contacted by an agent that was unable to show the first picks and forwarded us to a different Realtor, Evie Edington. We met Evie early Saturday to look at a few choices, and after 3 we decided to apply for the last one. By Monday, it was gone, so we were out hunting again. 3 weeks later and many viewings later, we […]
