Ben was born in Seoul, South Korea. Both of his parents were doctors; his dad is an orthopedic surgeon and his mother is a general practitioner. They both strongly encouraged him to go into medicine but he thought that there were enough doctors in his family already. He immigrated to the states when he was 10 years old with rest of his family. While he only knew 5 English words when he arrived at NYC JFK airport, through school's ESL classes, watching Price is Right, Smurfs and other cartoons, he learned to speak English fluently.
His parents found a job in a small town in Oklahoma called Sulphur. Having only lived in major metropolitan cities like Seoul and New york, the culture shock of life in small town U.S.A. took a little while to adjust. He attended University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a degree in Accounting. After graduating, he decided to stay in Austin (why leave?) and worked for major employers like Austin American Statesman and Dell computers. While working for Dell, he met his future wife at a boat party on lake Travis.
After his career at Dell, he and his wife found a spot to open up a bakery and called it Polkadots. When he felt that the bakery business was able to sail on its own, he decided to pursue his own passion and embarked on a career in real estate.
Why he's a Habitat Hunter
Ben really likes to look at different houses, commercial spaces, duplexes, condos and apartments, and at Habitat Hunters he gets to work with everything. He also likes the family-like atmosphere that a small firm provides where everything runs on common sense.
Besides real estate, Ben likes to explore with his little daughter, play board games, tennis, excercising and trying not to be terrible at golf.
