Football, Oktoberfest, the World Series, holiday parties—these are just a few of the reasons why beer is such a popular beverage in the fall. And lucky for us, we’re surrounded by lots of great local Austin breweries to grab a pint (or two) at any time of the year.
So, if you’re looking to enjoy a nice ale or IPA this fall, then you’ll want to head on over to any of the following Austin-area breweries.
2314 Rutland Drive, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78758
This is the place to go for Belgian ales. Plus, the atmosphere is as fun and playful as the beer names, which range from the Scratchin’ Hippo to Dancin’ Monks.
3009 Industrial Terrace, Suite 150, Austin, TX 78758
This can-only brewery is so popular there’s an expansion in the works. When you drop by for a visit, definitely try the Fire Eagle IPA or the lighter Peacemaker.
1305 W Oltorf Street, Austin, TX 78704
Go for the IPA, stay for the food. Offering everything from specialty pizzas—get the Angers Pizza Special—to artisan cheese and meet small plates, Austin Beer Garden is a top-notch brewery. Plus, this place makes for a fabulous music venue where you can watch world-class talent playing with the beer tanks as backdrops.
7020 Easy Wind Drive, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78752
Good food, good beer, and a good cause. According to their website, Black Star Co-op is “is the world’s first cooperatively-owned and worker self-managed brewpub.” When the night ends, you can catch the Crestview MetroRail right outside the door.
4112 Medical Parkway, Austin, TX 78756
The atmosphere at the Draught House feels like you’re meeting up at a friend’s house for a couple of craft beers. Friendly, inviting, and with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, this is a place to kick back and take it easy.
507 Calles Street, Suite 101, Austin, TX 78702
Lots of cold beers to choose from—try the Pale Mosaic— friendly bartenders, and a fun atmosphere to hang out with friends. Grab a board game and make it a night.
4602 Weletka Drive, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78734
Not only does the family and pet-friendly atmosphere keep patrons coming back for more, but the flavor of the beer is raved about. Ask what’s on special and if you’re feeling adventurous, go for it!
13187 Fitzhugh Road, Building B, Austin, TX 78736
It may be a bit of a hike outside the city, but the journey to this brewery is worth it. The scenery of the rustic barn is gorgeous and perfect to enjoy on a crisp fall day.
1615 Crozier Lane, Del Valle, TX 78617
With German and Czech-inspired beers, taking the time to enjoy Austin’s oldest brewery is an absolute must.
11160 Circle Drive, Austin, TX 78736
Not only is the beer here fantastic (we’re looking at you, Thirsty Goat!) but this brewery is also dedicated to giving back to the community.
1701 E 6th Street, Austin, TX 78702
The atmosphere here is sophisticated but never stuffy. If you’re into coffee brews (and even if you’re not), you can’t go wrong with the Zilker’s Coffee Milk Stout.
No matter which brewery you plan to visit, be sure to have a designated driver or cab ride lined up. Or, better yet, buy a home within walking distance.
